I use OEM ( probably wrongly) to mean a part that is made, that is like what came in a bike when it was new. MK3 had the PTFE thrust washers, not plastic ones. Some real NOS ( new old stock) pre MK3 iso parts surfaces I have are very rough in the finish and would wear the thrust washers like a random orbital sander.

060578 was the early ('68 -'72) 'Polyurethane' thrust washer.
RGM refer to their 064748 as "carbon".

Thanks for the heads up. The new endcaps have turning marks so I will definitely polish them up.
I meant, not you and what you will pay for quality parts , I meant from the supplier and their profit margin.

I am just happy parts are so readily available and organized with parts numbers (and pictures-AN) for these machines, as long as internet service is available it makes it somewhat easier to cypher, and the suppliers I have dealt with so far are eager to please.

That's a new one on me. I wish they could put a letter code at the end like a "C" to distinguish it from the other. I'm a fussy mechanic and try to dot the Is and cross the Ts. My bikes are known for their endurance under fire and take and delivery punishment as any good set up Commando will do.

I think the previous builder of this 72 dotted the Ts and crossed the I's !!!
If your bolt is stock, It has a thinner smaller head than a normal bolt. and the shank could be longer ideally , The nut side is on the left.
It doesn't seem to be and issue as the frame hole does not wear and egg out. IF it is properly tightened.
He definitely crossed you up! ;-). Most work I saw when I worked on customers bikes were unsafe at any speed and I told them I would be test riding the bikes, and they had to be right. And I worked cheaper and cared more than their medical doctors.
