Hi all just gone to start assembly of the front Iso Vernier mount and have come up against an issue...
Mine is a 72 pre Mk3 and the AN kit ordered was 06-7337 which is labelled on the bag as correct
Assembled the bush tube into the mounting placed on both the stepped washers, PTFE washers, spun on fully the fixed nut & Vernier adjuster..... Only to find i have a large gaps between the components and the tube.
Measured the bush tube length against one removed, give or take a mm its spot on the same.
So am i anything missing from the kit .. i have:-
1x Bush tube
1x Fixed end nut
1x Vernier adjuster
2x PTFE washers
2x stepped washers

All that has been done to the mounting carrier is vapour blasted & sprayed with two pack
The overall length of the carrier is 105mm 4.13"

My pre MK3 front iso modified to MK3 measures 108mm wide after modification, before I modified it one side extended further from the mount plate on one side, I made them equal to match the MK3.

The overall length of the carrier is 105mm 4.13"

Sounds like the Mk3 mount.

Mk3
Front Iso dimension question

A pre-Mk3 mount tube would extend further on the RH/timing side.

Hi .. so your 108mm to my 105mm is about right .. just to clarify are you saying the mounting bush on a pre Mk3 doesn't sit equally in the tube?
Currently i have positioned it centrally
One problem i see is that pushing the bush over to one side will almost have one of the bushes almost out of the tube

The other point it that the adjuster Vernier should actually rest against the frame, with the Vernier spun right on, the thread of the tube protrudes through the nut, so this will sit agapist the frame?

What is this modification to MK 3 & why is it needed .... sorry

Thanks

Thanks Les, this is exactly the dimensions of the tube i have...
So i must have the ordered the wrong Vernier ISO kit, ordering it against model
What ISO Vernier mounting kit should i have ordered
What is the reason a mod is made to central the assembly??

Are the rears mounts different

Many thanks

You need the MK3, why its different is because of the addition of the Vernier adjustment, why they chose that method to add the Vernier is lost to the mists of time, they had to alter something.

At one time there was no pre-Mk3 conversion kit, so fitting the Mk3 vernier kit to a pre-Mk3 model involved shortening the Iso. tube.

Now, there is a kit to fit the pre-Mk3 Iso. tube without modification which is what you have, unfortunately, as the tube appears to be the shorter Mk3 item, the adjuster included in the pre-Mk3 kit is too short therefore what you need is the longer Mk3 adjuster, or a spacer (between the adjuster and frame). Edit: Or a longer pre-Mk3 front mount?

If i get AN to swop the pre MK3 Iso kit (06.7337) for the MK3 kit ( 06.7116) this should sort the issue in one
