Front Engine Mount

Ok, mocked up the front engine mount after seeing a picture from someone recently here doing it.

Frame = 72, Engine mount = MkIII or one that has been shortened, Iso = MkIII

I can fit the assembly BUT only with one washer. With both washers it won't go. They are brown and used.

I tried to measure the distance between the tabs and it looks like 6in.

What's wrong? I think I need to get this right before it goes to paint/powdercoat.

According to the Clymer pub, 750 distance between front lugs should be 5.995-6.005". My new isos fit just fine in that dimension, although a tight fit. Mine measures right at 6.000".

You have the adjuster on the wrong side as it should be on the timing side. if it is the true MK3 where you have to trim the mount tube it might need a little more turned off. these were not very precision made parts. even with the drop in kits I have still had to do a little machine work to have them fit.

For mockup it shouldn't make any difference as too which side it's on, but noted.

The front mount was either a MKIII or was trimmed. What is the correct width of the mount tube for MkIII isos?

How thick are those brown (PTFE/bronze?) washers?

My old MkIIA (worn) ones measure just short of .060" .
I'm not familiar with the Mk III setup, but I'm guessing it isn't easy to mix up front and rear?

I fitted the Hemmings verniers which didn't require any surgery to the front mount, and the new adjuster goes to the LH side.

I believe Andover Norton only supply one part for the PTFE washer irrelevant of model ( 063556 or
064748) which is 0.060in thick as supplied by Mick Hemmings.
