i was wondering if anyone knows a good welder who knows norton frames in socal? I need to take my 71 frame in to get the later side stand lug welded on and i want to add a strengthening bar on the front down tubes.

since your gonna be welding on it , how about the stiffeners for the upper rear shock / seat frame loop. :D
 
I had this done on mine. Any welding shop can do the tab. However, I have regrets on mine. I wish I had found a '71 sidestand instead. The 72 tab and stand are huge, ugly and you need to get the angle exactly right or else it folds back wrong. Do not trust the template. You need to mock it up with the leg attached before you weld on it.
 
I had noticed on the Andover-Norton site that they apparently sell individual frame pieces. Here is the link to the pdf image

They also sell parts for the earlier frame and the Mark III as well. This could save a lot of time in fabrication which could also save you money as well.

If you want to use the later model side stand see if you can find an original Mark II/IIA part because it is thicker at the pivot point and uses a longer bushing as well.
