I bought new fork tubes for my 73 Commando some time ago and since it was running fine, I'm just now getting around to redoing the front suspension. When I pulled out the old fork tubes and compare to the new ones there is a world of difference. First of all, the tapered area at the top is much shorter on the new set than on the old. At the other end, the old set has a large and small through holes and the steel, bottom bushing is up against a shoulder on an area below the holes not much longer than the bushing itself with a circlip below the bushing, whereas the new set of fork tubes have no holes at the bottom, a bushing surface appx. 5 inches long, no circlip groove but internal threads at the bottom. At this point, I can't remember who I got them from. Can anyone tell me if this new set is somehow correct or what it does go to? Thanks.
