Footrest hanger - ARP hardware

Out of interest, just did the maths on point loading during torquing.
The 5/16" UNC button heads I had, accepted a 3/16 allen key - 5.4mm across the points.
At 25ft.lb distributed evenly across 6 points, the load per point is 462lb - no wonder they're looking a bit tired!
The 5/16" UNF ARP nuts accept a 3/8 socket - 10.8mm across the points.
At 25ft.lb distributed evenly across all 12 points, the load per point is down to 116ib - much more betterish!

Worth thinking about for other, higher torque allen head fittings
Cheers

indeed , as my neighbour discovered too late with stainless allen screws on his BMW bike front caliper mounts, and couldn’t get them undone. Same problem often with stainless Phillips/ Posidrive screw heads.

I've had great success using this when fitting out aluminium boats/superstructures... using 316 s/s fasteners etc...lanacote also works well to a point.

I have eliminated (AFAIK) all phillips/posidrive from my bikes.
They're a cross-form but not truly interchangeable, especially at higher torque settings.
Devil spawn! Should be eliminated upon sight! Exterminate...exterminate!!
Cheers

BTW - the domed ends of the studs are not just cosmetic, they really help in guiding the hangers onto the studs.
Others here will already know this from other ARP applications.
This idea could be helpful at the ends of the 3 head studs to guide them into the barrel.
Cheers

Jared from ARP just got back to me (very helpful!)
The stud I need is Part# AG1.700-12G (see diagram below)
Available in chrome moly or stainless - I'll go the bling route.
Cheers
Rob,
Excuse my ignorance but you stated that you went with the bling.Which one is the bling?
Thanks,
Mike

Hahaha. Stainless!
Mike - have a look at the 3rd photo in my post #20.

BTW I jast sent those photos plus feed back to Jared (ARP). He was having dinner with the owner of ARP, who is apparently a big fan of Nortons. Obviously a man of impeccable taste.

I try to get Torx drive screws and bolts wherever possible now as they are much less likely to round out.

Sure would be nice if they made up sets of those, correctly sized for Commando's.
