Foot Rest Rubber

But that should not be a problem as there are synthetic rubber compounds that are high durability (like modern tires etc). Its just the compounding that is not right for a lot of our parts. My new iso rubbers are too hard compared to stock, yet footrests too soft.
It's not the hardness of the rubber it's the fact that it splits and or perishes so quickly

Many years ago I used to work as a toolmaker for a rubber mouldings company, & I know there are many types & grades of natural & synthetic rubbers. It really depends on what people will pay for. I for one would be happy to pay more, especially for kickstart rubbers that didn'y disintigrate within a week or less.
The problem is a lot of these parts are made in India using shit material. Just look on Fleabay where sellers are flogging ten kickstart rubbers for twelve quid. It simply is not possible to make them out of the correct grade of material for that sort of cash. The trade will buy these in even cheaper & flog them to us!

I'm not sure how many of you kick start any more.
I do 95% of the time.
I have the long RGM kicker on 3 of my bikes and one thing I have noticed...
The RGM short rubber for that kicker is much more durable than the "mushy" ones for the normal kicker - and that's from AN and RGM.
I have, on occasion, shortened a "normal" one to fit. Doesn't last 1/4 as long as the "proper" RGM short ones.
Rubber ain't rubber anymore - apparently!
Cheers

SPOT ON.

RGM bits arrived a day ahead of prediction (guess that's where the 30 Pounds Sterling went).

Comparison with existing worns looks promising. ..

Foot Rest Rubber

New are shiny deep dark black while olds are much lighter, and not just from dirt of oxidation as scraping into surface doesn't change anything. Shifter and kicker feel noticeably harder and were very hard to slide onto pegs while olds came off easily. Foots seem close to same hardness as olds. I choose the RGM' with Norton logos for same price as non-imprinteds. Time will tell how they hold up.
