Foggy Ammeter

Occasionally my ammeter will fog up spontaneously. It can de-fog just as quickly. What will cause this to happen & what is the fix?

Please keep in mind that the bike is kept in dry strorage and has never been out in the rain.

I would say fog because it appears evenly around the edges of the lens, maybe 1/4" or so.

My guess is a little bit of moisture inside the headlight bucket - could just be atmospheric moisture. When the headlight is on, the air inside the headlight bucket heats up, and the moisture condenses on the cooler lens of the ammeter.
