Been working on electricity... Funny how a new wire loom can be so complicated...having lost the piece of paper holding the color codes for left hand switch did not help either!!
So just a little bit work.... the black primary is on only for timing: the machinist who worked on my "new" one just took all of the inside out.

if you squint enough (phone' photos) you can see the new electronic ignition which was so easy to install!

Those "high pipes" are totally cool!

All the way up until you cook the meat off of your right hand reaching down to flip the kick start lever out.
(ask me how I know) :D

I have thrown away more than 1 pair of slacks from burning them on the 'S' pipes after the shields fell off.

G'day,

Questions about your coil mounting and reflectors, I have purchased a new set of reflectors, they are 2.125 inch in diameter, as you have, the coils must be pushed right aft in the coil mounts to fit, is this normal ?, do I have the correct size reflectors ?.

Polishing coils ?, I believe polishing metal reduces its ability to dissipate heat, would this be an issue with a set of 6 volts coils ?.

Same problem here with the reflectors .... I will ditch them as I afraid the coils plugs will end up touching the head...

I am a little afraid of the pipes too!!
Philippe

Today saw some more finishing: buying a rear break line for the disc, grills on the pipes etc. Is it normal to have to take the pipes away on a SS to access the sidecovers???
Bike should start tomorrow and be timed... and then I'll wait for my new seat (while I put 2 seats on Ebay!)

Now that the tin is on.... lines are all over the place...what to do? painting while on the bike?

Too long headlamp ears...

Stay tune for the starting!

I like the headlight ears, I have a similar type (cerriani?) on my scooter. There's more room under the clocks for cables, wires, etc. Not factory, but better, IMHO. And about 1/2 the price, in alloy that won't get rusty, ever.

Seems that tomorrow will be a great day.... My Commando should start! Everything is plugged, bolted and tuned... Maybe a video!
Philippe

Thank you TRISPARK (and sleeved Amals!) she strated 1st kick and idled instantly.... Just to have to install the CNW seat.

Congratulations Philippe!
Beautiful restoration... hard to believe its the same bike, it definitely would win the "most improved" award without any doubts.
Cheers,

Thanks Don but... Competition is hard around here!

Great Job..and fantastic looking paint, very different. Im going to have to start thinking outside the box also for paint choice.
Love the Pipes, I see you called them "SS" pipes. Are these the same as P-11 pipes?

Very nice. Congratulations!

I like the SS exhaust. Where did you find that?

Debby

Thank you for the nice words!!!
in answer: the pipes/mufflers are done by Viking Exhaust, http://www.vikingexhaust.com/, and seems to be of great quality in SS.
I will not expose my bike at the Clubman Show, cannot really explain why but I do not like the idea of showing my bikes but my mechanic John Rios, http://www.citybritishcycle.com, may borrow her if he rents a space.
I am still not able to ride for the time being but another surgery in 6 months could help; some people get their weight in gold I am getting my height in scars; 174cm height for 154cm scars! Should be there soon!
Philippe

The bike is stunning, Philippe.

I'd have to say you would DEFINITELY be in the running for "Most Improved 2011".

Amend and Congratulations Philippe!
Who knows what fates lurks, best wishes all bad karma burnt off now and clear sailing ahead.
