A while ago I installed AdBlockPlus and Do Not Track Plus. Soon after that Firefox stopped making an underline link when I move the mouse over someone's name. I tried disabling both programs (for accessnorton), restarted and even looked in the User Control Panel to see if anything changed there. Didn't see anything and disabling the programs doesn't change anything. The name link works in IE. I initially thought it was because Jerry was messing with the new server or something, but after using IE, I know that's not the case. Anyone have any ideas what I've done?

Thanks,
Dave

I have not used those programs but have the exact same symptoms in Firefox. IE works fine. I have FF at home and will check it when I am there later. I went thought the FF settings and options and nothing seems to indicate this issue. It can be something on the server that is causing the issue. We have plenty of apps at work that function under IE but do now work in FF or any other browser.

i use safari on mac and i also have the same problem. I thought in the past i had clicked a user name to view a profile, but recently tried and couldn't. also thought it was during server upgrade

Well FF has been working fine for me years with the name link. This just started when Jerry started talking about a new server, or when I started messing with blocking programs.

It's not you dave. It's a "new and improved server" thingy. I'm sure Jerry's team will work it out.

Well, that fits into the dicking with the timing and the carbs at the same time, so you can't figure out which is the problem when it doesn't work?

Dave

Dave,

Same thing here with Firefox.

BTW, does Internet Explorer have a built-in spell check, similar to the one Firefox uses? I've not used IE for years. I know before I submit a post I sometimes have more than a few of those, "You can't spell", squiggly red underlines using Firefox.

Since we are on the subject, does anyone else have difficulty placing the cursor on the black background of a post?

Hmmm. When I don't log into accessnorton on IE, the name link works, but when I log in, it doesn't. So far, IE doesn't have spell check, but that may be in some setup. Not sure. This post is from IE, not that anyone could tell. Just thought I'd try and see what hapens (sp) no squiggly line apparent.

Edit: FF does the same thing, logged in, no name link, not logged in, name link.

You got that right!

I dont see the underline under someones name either.. But I havent done anything to my pc.

I've tried nearly all the fixes I could find about fixing hypertext and it still doesn't work, so I'm just going to assume it will work when Jerry gets things finalized.

What version of Firefox you guys running ?
Name link here works OK - tried with an old FireFox 10.something

Report it as a bug to Firefox. ?

No it doesn't work OK.
As soon as you are logged in, the link is gone....

Server setup then, as already said.. ?

No, the names still don't respond with hypertext to the cursor. Everything else does, like the message name, and all the links at the top of the page. The names work when I'm logged out though, but that doesn't help because then I'm not logged in.

I don't seem to be able to send messages, unless I get a PM and respond, even though I type in your handle, it doesn't go through, and it says I don't have authorization to look up profiles in the message section. IE still works just like FF too.

When I was looking for a fix, I was finding things about the way the script (?) for the links are written. But I really don't know anything about that stuff.

Maybe that's a clue that I can't look up profiles in the message section? I'm locked out somehow, wouldn't surprise me if I did something.

Ok TNX. I will look at it later. I am sure it is not browser related.
Focusing on my bike right now :)
I expect it is permissions related as we are setting up and changing permissions in preparation for the VIP members area.

Cheers

A good friend of mine owns a Suzuki dealership. He can ride any new Suzuki his heart desires. He also has a very nice Vintage collection, three Manx Nortons, a 69 Bonneville, a preunit Bonneville, a MK3 Commando, 650 Manxman, a Combat Commando and some CZs and a series C Vincent Rapide.
All of the bikes are in impeccable, ready to go condition. At a recent Vincent get together he quietly told me that out of the whole lot he enjoyed riding the MK3 Commando the most.

You will be very happy with that bike.

Glen

Yeah- I am excited about my MK3. It's a typical ebay situation. There is so much missing from my pile of bits. The good thing is the parts I do have are good! I guess I had better post a new topic about how my build is coming along.
