Hey,

It been a long time but I finally pushed the new CNW website live earlier today.

The old one had not been updated for quite some time so some people were wondering about what was going on at the shop.

Well......busier than ever. Lots of new machines, parts and developments.

The main reason for the new site was to change the platform it was sitting on. The old site (I built in 2004) even though still pretty nice looking, was really hard to work with. To make any changes at at was a major ordeal and it was hard to stay up to date.

The new one is very different in that respect in that I can make all the updates, changes and additions myself. So at a moments notice, I can change or add a product, put a bike up in the gallery, add a page or just do minor changes. This is very cool and those that have accused me of being a control freak in the past....are probably right, because I like it a lot.

Its also designed so its very easy to navigate. Dont like to much information at once and I wanted a clean, straight forward look that will take you where you want to go without having to search for it.

Anyway.....dont want it to come across as a sales pitch but rather an invite to check out the new site. The gallery is a whole lot bigger with many more images of each bike (more of the late model builds, not the older ones) and very large files. I apologize to those that have slow servers because the pictures may take some time to load. Click on them again and they are huge.

Also some new parts in the part section and definitely stay tuned as I will be doing many more updates in the next couple of weeks.

Hi Matt,

Looking good :D

Seems to be a problem with the gallery?
This pops up: Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/colorads/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/nggfunctions.php on line 553

Kevin

Thanks for the feedback.

Gallery does have that script (no worries....not a virus). We are working on removing it. The images are still there....you just have to scroll to the bottom of the page.

Also, the contact us page does not work yet.

So there a few inital issues but we will work thorugh them the next couple of days

Thanks

Just checked it out, and it is excellent Matt ... and thanks for sharing :D Well now, may have to sell some KZ1000 stuff for more Norton goodies

Because of the quality of the items and the cost of North American labour, I expect to be shocked by high prices on a site like yours. Given how nice the stuff is the prices seem very decent.
I'm working myself up for one of your front brakes, I think it might represent the best value of anything on there.
It looks great but of course that should always be secondary, it's the safety issue that makes it top of the list for me.

do it!

I have CNW's complete front front system and it is fabulous

but then I think all their stuff is

I also have their hydraulic clutch and it is so clean and no doubt about it separation of plates, never go back

John

Matt, I always liked your old site, and wondered why you wanted to replace it. But this new one rocks. Keep up the good work brother! Cheers, Don

Hi Matt,

Website looks good. Was wondering what's involved with the 1" and 2" lowering kits, and if these are available separately?

Cheers,
Graeme

Matt:

I worked at N-V Marston Road during the Commando development, later on the AJS Stormer program. If you come across any odd question that pertains to that early development, that I might be able to help with, feel free to get in touch. The Commando program shifted to Plumstead in early 1968, when the Wolverhampton Experimetnal Department's involvement ended.

Now 71, I'm no longer an active biker. I don't think I could kick a Commando into life any more. When we emigrated to the US (the Seattle area) in July 1968, I looked at all the elderly ladies in their big Oldsmobiles (who could probably not even see the end of the hood) and decided that riding bikes on the street was no longer an option. I didn't want DW to open the door to a State Trooper announcing my demise.

I've ridden dirt bikes a bit, but nothing like our 360 AJS Stormer. We ran it in the 350cc and above category without anyone realising it was actually a 340 cc engine. With Malcolm Davis riding for us, we made quite a showing in the UK motocross scene.

and decided that riding bikes on the street was no longer an option.

No one can argue against that logic. I've come to same conclusion but ain't got discipline enough yet to abstain. The mileage you report is hard to believe but puts em in modern bike mileage. Did many bother to keep their daily rides cleaned up?

Graeme,

When I lower a bike I use shorter shocks in the back and I modify the front with fork tubes, damper bodies and fork springs. Nothing is done to the frame so the bike can be put back to stock height at any time.

With a 1" kit, center stand and side stand can be left as is. With the 2 " kit, I remove the center stand and modify the side stand so that the bike leans over enough to be secure

I dont really offer the parts individually at this time but get a hold of me in the shop and we'll see what we can do if you are interested

About the prices - your service is not something I would ever use myse lf unless I won a lottery. However I don't doubt there are still people around with money who love motorcycles. I'm very impressed with the attention to detail on the bikes in the photos in the gallery. I think when you are selling something, whether it is a product or se rvice or your own labor, you set the price. The 'going rate' argument is bullshit. You have a choice, you can cringe and go all negative and try t o work for the absolute minimum, or you can provide a quality service and charge the right price for it - 'quality doesn't cost, it pays'. Here in Australia, our businesses try to compete with the Chinese on the own terms, and it is a losing game. We have a high dollar, and a high salary structure for our workers. I suggest the only way our businesses can survive is to go up market in a quality sense, and charge commensurate prices to cover costs, overheads, and margins. What I am talking about is a mindset, and these days we all have to think smarter. Good luck with your business, it looks excellent.
