ok been trying to come up with a solution to this ethanol crap eating our tanks
is it not possible to cut the bottom out of say an original fastback tank and either re fibreglass the inside with the newer fibreglass resins that are supposed to be able to handle up to 20 pc ethanol and make a new bottom using the old one for a pattern then glassing it all back together or failing that make a metal tank to fit inside the fibreglass original tank ..... any one tried this ?
just don't see much point in dumping casswell or other sealer in if it only last a couple of years

Yes this is possible and some have cut the bottom out painted sealer on then re glued the base. Seems it is easier just to replace the tank with a steel version though. My original '72 fiberglass tank has been decorating a shelf for the last 5 years after I finally came to the realization there was no hope for it.
