I had a pair of Fiamms on my Interstate (they may still be there, I'll have to ask my brother). They were aplenty loud. I mounted them on either side just in front of the side covers facing forward. Not sure how much they got used, the Dunstall mufflers weren't exactly quiet.

Fiamms are cheap but do they last? Is there something else one should be looking at?

I put a pair on my cafe racer when I first built it back in the '80's. They are still there and still LOUD!

Interestingly, I had a recall on a '93 Jeep Cherokee to address horn connections. When I slid underneath to check out their work I found an identical pair of Fiamm horns!

Fiamm are certainly a big improvement over the Lucas (?) original. Almost any after-market horn would be. Finding room to install the better ones can be a challenge.

One UK magazine tester, when the Commando first went on the market, said the OEM horn "sounded like a bee under a bucket"!

Actually I think the newer, better ones are smaller aren't they? I only stuck mine out on the sides because I had two and they were all fancy with "chrome" openings. I think a single Fiamm fits right where the stock one goes.

The stock one is more effective if you take it off and throw it at the cars...

Greetings all,
Many years ago a guy told me that a 6 volt VW beetle horn hooked into a 12 volt system really screams (while it lasts), I can not confirm this. i suppose if one could be found cheap enough it may be worth looking into.
