After careful consideration I've decided to secure the future for Mike Patrick's AMA district 37 championship P11. It will now be available for all to see and enjoy at the amazing Barber Museum near Birmingham, AL. It leaves tomorrow for its new home. Norton expert and AMA Hall Of Fame inductee Brian Slark has promised to look after it properly. I look forward to seeing it there.Farewell P11/121013, see you in AL at the Barber Museum

Nice! I would say congratulations are in order. Are they going to go thru it or just keep it dusted?

Thanks Pantah_good,

Well it will be theirs to do as they wish. But, I doubt Brian Slark will order much done to it. It runs well already and any changes made would only take away from its provenance. Brian did say they are getting it in time for an off-road display they are currently installing.

The 2017 Barber Vintage Festival is October 6-8

Tickets went on sale today :D

Hilltop Motorhome parking is already sold out - over 100,000 attended last year

Nice farewell and parting shot Jer. This is the bike which served as inspiration for my mad max bike effort.

Seeing it again, I wonder if it was always a race bike from the beginning or did it have a CA license plate at some point which was taken off by Mike Patrick.

Hopefully the new owner will continue its story and post on here.

Thanks Elefantrider,

Yes, this bike was and always will be a racer...It was among the very first produced by the Norton factory, rushed to Berliner in NJ and then on to Mike Patrick through ZDS Motors in Glendale, CA. It was heavily modified by Mike to it's current specification. It has never been titled or plated anywhere.

Brian Slark, currently one of the main people (technical director) at the Barber Museum, knew Mike Patrick back in the 60's when Brian first immigrated to America. It was Mike who took Brian out into the CA deserts to show him the way we do it here. Brian has a special regard for Mike and this bike, I'm sure he will make certain the Museum shows it well.
