Anyone know of any stateside suppliers of the extended kickstart levers rgm sells. The one on my '72 is wobbly as the splines are compromised. My right leg/foot is begging me for the rgm version. Just wondering if it's available locally. Thanx, Rick

They are not cheap, but you will love the results. I can now crank my 71 without having to put center stand down. Buy one from either place. Mine came from commando specialties.

These Italians kickstart their Nortons with loafers. It's all about technique.

I never figured out how to start it from the right side with my left leg. Not my strong leg to start with. Then there is the guy that starts it sitting on the seat. Wish I could have that strength in my right leg. I always had to get it over TDC and then put my body weight into it and my leg muscle at the same time, luckily it was always an easy starter.

I love the one where the guy tickles the carb until the gas dribbles off the bottom of the bowl. That is what I remember!!

Yeah, I have to use my body weight to spin it through. Can't just jab at it like that one guy.

But at least I can start mine on the wheels though. Don't need no stinkin c-stand :P

Greetings,
Reading this thread got me thinking an extended kick lever might be just the thing. Unfortunately, for me anyway, they are somewhat pricey. Being a semi-clever guy, (if I do say so myself) and being equipped with a hacksaw and welder, I think I'll make my stock lever a little longer.
Anyone know how much longer these extended levers actually are? I figure got to be long enough to make a difference, but not so long as to get in the way or look funny.

I have heard of plenty of people welding them longer. Either I don't know enough about welding or it just scares me to think of a badly welded kickstarter breaking.

I used a high tensile bolt screwed into both halfs, which was then welded over. Worked well because I could leave a gap for full weld penetration plus it kept every thing in place without need for jigs etc.
