I'd like to encourage one and all to consider getting into vintage motorcycle racing. Between AHRMA, WERA, CMRA, VRRA and others, there are PLENTY of opportunities to get in some track time reasonably close to home (especially now that AHRMA has added Texas to the schedule).

* Vintage Roadracing
* Post-Vintage roadracing (including Thruxton Challenge)
* Vintage & post-vintage Motocross
* Trials
* Cross-Country
* Vintage Dirt track

I know many of you have bikes that could easily be set up to compete, and I'm sure many of you are better riders than me (which means you know you won't be in last place, even as a rookie).

You lot with the Thruxtons, IT'S A NO-BRAINER; just yank your lights and sign up!

I'll help rookies all I can with freebie Triumph & Norton parts, I don't have much in the way of BSA stuff, sorry.

C'mon, what are you waiting for? e-mail me for an easy step-by-step guide to getting started.

Well yes now I know I can ride and crash about a good or bad as anyone.
Main thing I'm blurry on is the process of getting race license. Not sure if I'll qualify w/o a big law suit.

Time money distance of course prevent me actually competing but would like to find my pecking order and have access to various track days here and there on non competitive illegal Commando.

I have thought about it a bunch of times.

The only issue I have is the cost of racing.
Not just the bike and gear but transportation, travel, time off work...........
you know - I don't have to tell you.

I also don't live very close to any tracks so even getting to a couple of track days would be an undertaking.

I set my Honda Valkyrie up to run the World of Speed event (130 mph. club) last September
at the Bonneville Salt Flats but unfortunately a very good riding buddy died right at that time
so I didn't participate.
Hopefully next year, wide open on the salt has always been a dream of mine.

We have talked about getting over to Miller Motorsports Park and doing one of the riding schools
(Yamaha Champions school, Jason Pridmores school, ect.). Thats probably as close to racing as I
could get - for now anyways.

I dirt tracked stock cars for a couple of years (until I ran out of money) and totally enjoyed it. However,
it took up ALL of my free time.

I now like to use what time I have exploring the southwest with my woman on the back of my bike.

Who knows, maybe one day I'll strike it rich and you'll see me at the track.
