ok I am stil trying to assemble my 62 ES2. It came completely unassembled, even the flywheel. I assembled the flywheel parts but how do I make sure that it is assembled squarely? Is there a jig or a measurement needed? The 2 fly wheel weights need to be adjusted perfectly to make sure the mainshaft is true. Is this best sent to a machinist or can I do this myself.

I did mine at home with a pair of v-blocks (home-made) and used a dial indicator to show run-out.
A little bit of work but seems to have been effective.
I suggest that you have a go and see how close you can get it.

Suggest you find some one with a lathe and mount it between centres, and clock up several places including flywheel, bearing run out etc, this was the normal method of checking crankshaft.

I would also recommend you get your crank assembly balanced, when I rebuilt my 1957 my engine rebuilder looked at me sideways when I asked him to balance it to a figure of 60% as recommended by Mike Pemberton and Ken McIntosh, after rebalancing my ES2 is as smooth as a Baby's a-se!
