That's an outstanding tip, ludwig. Also courageous to reveal lightened sprocket. Begs a response from Arkansas.

How does the tab work on the allen screw?

Nice clean holey sprocket. Inspires me no end, thanks.
I like the socket to lock the sprocket. I have a set of various wedges and steel and Al blocks to lock up clutch center and outer and whole engine to deal with fasteners. i use a long bulldozer size 1.5" end wrench as plenty of torque even if can only get it on nuts at slight angle. There ain't much side loads on this sprocket and its retained by the lock tab, so I think the factory torque level is rather over kill.

I want to make a combined axle wrench and exhaust nut wrench some day for carry. When on long trips to ralleys where other bikes are in need of spring puller I bolt mine to the front of skid plate by its own puller bolt and extra nut. Make sure its tight before leaving, not good for split axle to hit it at speed.

EXCELLENT tip. I may end up having to put this to use since we already pulled the chain.. D'oh!

When returning home in 2009 from the worldfamous Begonia Rallye, my friend's Commando broke down when the nut holding the clutch came loose.
He called in the breakdown assistance of his insurance company. Took him till the next day to get home.
Had we had a clutch spring compressor, we could have repaired on the spot.
So I botched up something for my tool kit that wouldn't take up a lot of volume.
I tried it once for pulling the crankshaft sprocket, it worked.

Ludwig,
Great tip on holding the sprocket, I put it to use yesterday! Another great tip I read was to use a 1-1/2" trailer hitch wrench. I found one at AutoZone for mere twelve bucks, a similar wrench would of cost closer to $40.00 anywhere else. They also carry a couple of pullers for under $15.00 that would handle the primary gear.

Gday Ludwig, the socket locking tip is good, but I very much like the oiler cap(s) you've installed for the ease of oiling the swing arm bushes. Its very tidy and has that engineered look, mmm.... may have to pinch that aswell for my project.
Thanks!
