Has anyone here had their motor rebuilt by cNw in the last few years? If so, how did it turn out? Thanks.

James,
You cannot go wrong with that option. All the details he puts into his complete motors will make you very pleased.

Hi Ying,
Is Matt at CNW still doing engine rebuilds?

cNw engine rebuild is at least $5995 and must be there on March 1st or September 1st to make it into the twice per year rebuild cycle.
In talking to a few people who contacted me after I made that post, it seems that cNw is behind on their work. Please call them rather than take my word for it - I was just showing what they advertise.

The only work I know for sure is that I send oil tanks and then come back by the end of the next month, as promised. And I sometimes send crankcases for their reed valve machining, and they normally come back within a week. When I need parts to repair something of theirs or when I buy their reed valves for 72 Commandos, they come very quickly.

Hi all,

No question, the last 3 years have been an absolute roller coaster. Companies and part suppliers closing down, machine shops backed up for unreasonable times. Delays on what was previously readily available. All while this is going on, an increase in my business and very hard to keep up. So as much or more my fault as any outside source part of the process.

Some extremely tragic and unfortunate circumstances with my close family over the last 6 months that will continue for years to come. Requires my attention for some time every day of the week. Can’t and won’t be discussed here but all playing part.

As I have told people, the ‘perfect storm’.

No denying that what used to take months, took years. Incredibly upsetting for someone that is over the top anal (me) and wanting/needing things to be done right. Disappointing people with extended build times is terrible. That said, also very much a reality.

The last engine that was caught up in ‘the storm’ was completed a couple of weeks ago and shipped out today. The several builds that were part of the longest build series in cNw history will not be forgotten. Not by my customers that patiently waited and waited and certainly not by me. All I can hope for is that they will all be enjoyed now that they are delivered and hopefully all the waiting and frustration will be somewhat forgotten over time and with miles.

All that said, I had many talks with those vendors involved (including countless talks with myself) and decided I can make it happen again. What used to be a 4 month turnaround is now 6 months. I took on another series of builds and they are right in the middle of getting work done. Based on how this all turns out, there will hopefully be 2 more series of builds every year moving forward as long as there are people wanting their Commando engines reworked to cNw standards.

Sincerely

Matt
