End of Season Ride & Winter Plans

Couple of years ago Somerset levels flooded and nobody could move for weeks. Of course dredging is forbidden because
we need the mud for the birds. We are short mud of course, just look at the Severn at low tide....

I would think in last 500 yrs or so mankind would have figured out that you can fight Mother Nature all you want , but you can never defeat Her ...

Well the fires are just getting worst and my favorite mountain rides are all burning around them the winds are high and are blowing in all directions which don't help, more houses lost but we Aussies are a tough lot and we all help one another when things are down, yesterday there was 56 major fires in Queensland alone but today that has climbed to over 70 major out of control fires and NSW is in the same boat, one person on the news lost his house and shed full of motorcycles, he was wearing a Norton T shirt, at lease he got out safe.
Now the worst thing the pollies are playing the blame game and one pollie blaming the greens for not allowing winter burn offs, but no Mother nature is just angry and we have no control over her, the ground is dry we just need rain.

California is similar for the last few years with major fires. Denying global warming is for those not threatened.

Also for those that reap sky high profits now , knowing they won’t be here for the reckoning ....

Its not about global warming, that's just a excuse in my opinion, Australia is and has always been a dry country since white man settlement and only the last 100 years they been keeping records and we normally have 10 years of good wet then 10 years of bad dry sessions we just happen to be in the dry cycle of things and you can't fight mother nature, yes the planet is warming up and the planet has seen a lot of changes even before man came along.
As bad as the fires are the country will recover pretty quickly, yes there will be a lot of losses but the new growth will start straight away the Abouginals have been doing this for over 40,000 years with fire to bring new life to the country, its just now the population has expanded, natural bushlands have been removed for development so things have changed but people want to live in the bush but they also must except that fire is a natural thing in our country and must be prepared for it.
Work the land when things are good but when things are bad let the country rest and recover and wait for the good seasons to arrive again, but most farmers will keep working the land even in bad times all for the mighty $$$ and they aren't letting the land recover in the bad times, they just keep doing what they do they make good money in the good times but they don't put money aside for the bad times.
Abouginals were nomads and when things were bad they move on to let where they been to recover, our major rivers have been dammed so the natural water hasn't been allowed to flow and this causes more problems down the road, but things will come good but when who knows only mother nature will let us know that answer and when she does we will know about it and we need to work with her not against her.
Modern man needs to learn from the past and fix their mistakes before its to late, remember this is my opinion and don't get upset if you disagree with me and our pollies need to man up and do something about it, not when its to late.
Well I have had my rant and todays is my Birthday and I am suffering from the flu thanks to my mate, first time in 61 years I been crook on my Birthday.

Thanks Craig, we produce one of the best rums in the world here in our state of Queensland, Bundaberg Rum right in the heart land of sugar cane, I stopped drinking it a long time ago as I was going a bit stupid when on it in my younger days, we lived on it every day lol, I got a bottle in the pantry when the wife made her last Xmas cake so might have a few nips to see if its OK before she starts making this years cake, she soaks the fruit in it for a few weeks before baking it, one piece of cake will take you over the DUI limit o_O:confused::) but I think I will force a few beers down with it later :D
I still feel young as I am doing the same things I have always done since I was 17 and brought my Norton new just the body has slowed down, well a little anyway, I just do things a bit smarted these days.

yikes ! We feel for you.

Yeah, Happy B-Day from me also. I'm just getting over the crud myself and hoping for warmer weather and a ride. I was wondering why no one gets upset over seasonal changes like they do with climate change. Same thing.

Well I had to test the bottle of rum out to see if it was still OK first nip seemed ok but wasn't sure so had another then about 10 shots later it seemed to be working ok as I started to get a bit of a wobbly boot, then the wife came in and asked what I was doing, testing to see if the rum is OK for this years Xmas cake, she looked at how much was left in the bottle and said you have given it a good go, now there is not enough, well I just said "such is life" hasn't helped with the flu but it sure has helped the head ;)

Happy Birthday mate, that Bundy is delightful stuff indeed but it sends me off my rocker and I haven’t touched it for a long, long time. Many happy returns.
