EMGO fork tubes any good?

I too succumbed last summer to the price differential between EMGO tubes from Raber's (who reported good customer ratings for them) and the Norton part. I had forgotten about the (presumably) made in US option from Forking by Frank and did not check with him. Install was fine, not enough miles to given an honest report.

I always thought fork tubes were designed to bend on impact

Has anyone actually tested the EMGO tubes against Genuine or NOS items and compared the force required to bend and sheer strength of the steel ?

Forks bending upon impact?
Depends upon the impact, may our Hobit is more quailified to answer this,,
Impacts such as a pot hole's should not deform the tubes..hitting the back of a truck at 30mph...well thats another story.
Design wise the stanchions should withstand the riggers of every day use. as the human body does very well...take it out of every day use.. :?:

It would be pretty hard to make a fork tube that does not bend in a impact in that small diameter.
They didn't go to tubes of up to 50mm for that reason of course, also it is not uncommon for some modern alloy frame bikes to rip the whole front end off at the steering head in collisions.
I went for the AN stanchions.

Is that the case?, i have a 71 frame in the garage with a 7/8 bow in the top tube, plus a mild bend in the right side down tube.....should have noticed this on buying the bike  but the tank was in place and it was outside in the rain, just planning an attack on the frame , some "heavy" engineering required.
It appears to have had a "bit" of a bump.

Better for the FORK tubes to bend / give up, than the FRAME tubes!

Re the EMGO forks, I placed an order today with British Cycle Supply and mentioned that the lower bushing and c clip are a problem and Gary took the time to fit a bush and clip and they do not fit with out some milling. Apparently they are to spec until they lay on the chrome which takes them out of original spec. DUH, let's not make an adjustment now  So I forked out( no pun intended) the loot for Andover, damn expensive. Hope they fit as they should.
