Electroplating, plating, cadmium, zinc, nickel, zinc-nickel

Would anyone have experience with the process of zinc-nickel plating?
I suspect that someone has an aerospace or automotive background and can add some information wrt replacing cadmium plating with zinc-nickel.

I read about zinc-nickel ~20 years ago and it was replacing all the regular plating at a Japanese car manufacturer (I believe a Japanese engineer or firm held the patent) as it was ~10 times better than the best passivated zinc as a finish plating and held up far far better than zinc in appearance.

Avoid the guy selling the chrome package for the sl70 honda on ebay. Absolute nightmare!! Dont waste your time, or your money. He will nickel and dime you to death and he is just the middle man.
