About five years I installed Smith's electronic tach and speedo.
They have been working great, until today when the speedo will not go over 30mph.

Rotating the rear hub I cannot find a magnet attached any more.
Don't know how the speedo could still register anything but it does.

Can someone post a picture of a hub with speedo magnet attached?

Anyway, going to install new magnet to hub, what would you use
hot glue gun, gorilla glue, or JB Weld?
Thanks!

Gorilla glue expands on curing. Therefore, it must be clamped, and is intended to bond to at least one porous material.

I recently tried hot glue on a metal to metal bond ..... complete failure.

I am sure NASA could come up with the perfect adhesive, but otherwise, I think your best bet is JB Weld.

Slick

EDIT: More thoughts .....

Super glue is not weather proof.
There is a product called NP1. Used as a sealer in construction industry such as for gutters and flashing. It has excellent adhesion to metal and withstands the stress of thermal expansion. Might work better than JBW.

3M 5200 marine sealant/adhesive should work. It comes in black or white and it's available at marine/boat supply stores. It's very tenacious but will flow a bit before it cures. Ideally the surface should be horizontal during the during process.

Fast Eddie, beautiful CNW speedoed bike
But I do not understand what the picture has to do with what kind of bond to secure a magnet to the rear hub?

I use a M6 magnetic bolt (and nyloc nut) fixed through a hole drilled through the hub cover plate.

Fair point. Was jus’ trying to show a viable alternative to glueing something on that’ll only come off again one day!

Didn’t mean to derail ya thread tho. Post now removed.
