Beware scam Mk3 on eBay way too cheap. Zero feedback. Guy also has a velocette clubman way underpriced..

Re: ebay scammer

Is the user name karl-mchu by any chance? He also has two Jotas, jet skis, vw campers , boats and 4 or 5 classic cars. My apologies to karl if he's a genuine seller  7

Re: ebay scammer

That's him. Ditto re apologies but the details are scant in the descriptions..

Re: ebay scammer

A search for his name turned up nothing, so did a search for velocette clubman. Guess he was reported. Often these guys copy old listings for their source material so if you search those items in "completed" listings you will find the original ad for the item. Then you can report him.

Outstanding bit of work here, thanks for the heads up , not that I'm in the market for another bike at the moment, but this is great info----I learn something new (or old :) ) all the time here----I love this site :D

Re: ebay scammer

Try a google search of his username. 2 full pages of scam warnings. Guess he isn't very good at his trade. Jim

I edited the title of this thread from "ebay scammer" to "ebay scammer karl-mchu". This will make our thread resolve in Google too if someone searches him..

Well done! Scammers should be shot, preferably after torture. OK, at least be put out of business.

and then shot, after torture, and shot again.

The thought of some old boy just getting his pension lump sum wishing to bring his dream to life then falling for a low life like this would be disheartening. The fact is that eBay seem to do nothing about these.

Notice these scammers do their deeds on Sunday, ebay are not about then...i allways report them...but the silly little gits sat in some seedy bedroom are not frashed..I spot the fakes in a jiffy ...but my 73 year old mate...called me in a panic...saying theres a Velo Thruxton on ebay for £7000! I said to him.."stop being a knob. Its a scam" his deflated responce..whats a scam? poor man! when i tried to explain..he asked " why would someone go to all the trouble.if they don't have a Velo for sale?" it was hard work explaining that away!

These come up constantly, I emailed about one and was sent full photo's, description, history.
It was a buy it now price, was told to pay then I could collect the bike!
Bike conveniently at the other end of the country, not view able.
The bikes you have noted will come up again with different email contacts.
Generally they are a buy it now, about £3000 with a different ebay name.
If you trace the sellers other items they usually have plant equipment/ jet ski's for sale.
Quite often they will have no feedback.
They usually seem to have a friend looking after the machine and are not in the country.
I have reported many in the past.

A genuine seller will not be evasive, will allow viewing, will/ usually have feedback, will not be so cheap as to get you questioning it, most people know the value of their machines.
Will not expect payment without viewing.

Hope this helps, be careful, don't get caught out.

There are several machines doing the rounds, keep cropping up with different sellers, areas of the country and contact no's and emails,

Three years ago I bought a Royal Enfield Interceptor which I imported from Canada. I did some due diligence and sent off six thousand pounds to a guy I had never met. There were risks but I minimised them and most people are actually honest. If they won't speak to you then it's a no brainer.

The sad thing is I guess this does work and people do send money for a vehicle that doesnt exist, I do think though that ebay need to act and take responsibility to stop these scammers using ebay

My limited understanding is that eBay is a two tiered model. If you "bid" on an item and it turns out to be a scam you are protected by their consumer protections however if you "buy it now" you are not as this is not covered under the auction rules and protections. It is an market advertising service equivalent to an add in the local paper.
Think of it like this
Auction = legal protections for the consumer under eBay policy
Market ads= same protection as the weekend paper; responsibility 100% consumer

The amount of money ebay makes they should be on top of these scams straight away ,,,,,,,,baz

The key is stick to dealing/ bidding through ebay, you are protected.
The ones I have seen all want contact through an email or phone no, you are not protected!
