I have been an ebay customer for 15 years. Recently I am receiving emails from Ebay requiring that I sign up in a new way. I must give them my SSN and bank routing and account numbers by Feb 14 (tomorrow). I am reluctant to give out this info, but I do like buying and selling on ebay.
Is this a scam or do you have the same requirements for real.
Thanks;,
Jaydee

PHISHING e-mail, look at the return e-mail address.

Report it at once.

I never had to give them my SS# and I've done transactions in excess of $15K on ebay (restored bike sale)

I've done several hundred thousands of dollars worth of business in 20 years...

Go to the E bay site and log in and then see if you have any new mail in your in box. E bay did make me change things a while back as they had sold Pay Pal and needed a bank routing number to deposit money into., They may need your SS # for tax reasons for them to send you a 1099K tax form. But you can find out if the mail is real by going to the your E bay page, or you can call them and ask. Most Phishing letters have return email addresses that look bogus as heck.

That's impressive, I don't know if posting that on a public site would be safe?

I'm talking abut the past.

If I had all that money sitting in the bank, maybe I would care...

On any given day in the last 2 years, and for the foreseeable future, my bank account will be at it's all-time high of just over $1,000 on the day of the month that my Social Security check hits.

The only bike I own now, with a value anywhere near $15K, is the monoshock prototype Norton. So, bike sales will never be what they once were, for me...
