Early Commando Fastback badges.

They are all the same size and are 2 15/16 in in diameter almost exactly.
The ones I have have a backing that is reflective and somewhere between silver and gold in color. Had to tell as the backings are fairly corroded.
Hi likevelos.
Can you measure the diameter of the three? Are they the same?

Thanks,
Ed

In my stash I have an early and a late Fastback tank. I vaguely recall that the round badges don't really fit inside the hollow depressions in the early tank but rather mostly cover it. Do I have this right?
What would it look like if you put an early badge on a late Fastback tank? Would it stick out too much, or look weird?

I have three '68 tanks all fit the badge inside the depression. I have an original set (tank and tail) in silver flake with candy red panels that still have badges. I was under the impression that this paint scheme was only on the '69 non-badge tank and tail. Apparently not. The badges in the tank are original and are convex on both sides to fit into the concave recess. The tail section badge is flat on the bottom and convex on the top. All the reproduction badges are flat on the bottom. I have been told that some factory badges are 'aluminum' colored background while others are 'chrome', reflective background. I use 3M emblem mounting tape.

Thanks for the info!

you can see the reflections of the tank badges on this bike in its video, I do have some original metallic backed badges I could sell.

Just an update on this, I've ordered some custom ones with a company, which should look more like the originals. Once I have received them, I will get a few pictures up for you to review.
