1970/71 Norton Commando Fastback left hand sidepanel.

Hi Guys,
This has been covered many moons ago but I can't seem to find the answer to the actual removal of the left hand side panel.As it stand the top metal studs are located on a straight piece of steel bolted to the frames webs left and right.To this piece of metal there are 2 L shaped pieces of threaded rod of which the straight end is threaded for a captive nut.The L shaped piece is the part that fits into the rubber bushes on the side panels metal loops.This arrangement was not set up correctly on the bike as the panel was a nightmare to remove.My question is once the fastener at the bottom is released should the panel pivot upwards or is it removed completely by either sliding it left or right off the rubber bushes that ard located in the back of the side panel.Can someone advise please.The panel is steel.
 
Thanks for that,I,ve seen these before but could,t find the links for them.I guess what Ive got on my bike is some sort of aftermarket bracket maybe supplied by RGM/Norvil.Maybe the reason these brackets you've shown aren't used on my bike is because its a later frame and the original mounting points for these don't exist.Just a thought.

Thread 'Early Fastback sidecover attachment'

going through the new bike, checking it out etc getting to the battery to remove/replace and i found the sidecover was attached with a horrible contraption of allthread. The sidecover is still stock/not modified and im trying to figure out how it is supposed to be attached now. Looks to be a different system than on my 73 but i cant find any diagrams for the early bike just parts lists. Anyone have a pic of how this is supposed to attach?

As Les stated, the 1971 model has a different cover (fiberglass) because it uses the 1971-75 side mount oil tank and corresponding battery tray. The 1968-70 Fastback models used the large oil tank and no right side cover and the steel battery cover hinged at the top and fastened by the plastic rotolok at the bottom. These models also had the zener diode heat sink attached to the battery tray with a rotolok while the '71 and later models attached it to the right footpeg mounting plate.
