Just wondering if anyone had an opinion on the value of a set of Dunstall plates shown below:

Have come across a set for sale with a bunch of other parts and was wondering if they were worth trying to snag.

I know the Dunstall name but am unsure if these were rare or a more common item.

There must have been a good performance reason to mount them cause they are not nearly as pretty as the stock z plates. I wonder.

Do they come with the rear sets or are they just the plates? Without the rear sets I don’t think they worth a bunch.

They will have some value but I have no idea how much. Worse case you put them on eBay and hopefully make your money back.

What are they asking for them?

I would guess that given the amount of way better 'performance' parts available today for anyone seriously wanting to improve their bike, that 'Dunstall' parts, genuine or otherwise, have curiosity value only??

Could not get a price individually. They come as a package deal with some other misc parts left and tools left over from a what appears to be an 850 project. $300 for the entire lot which is probably fair for what is included. It’s just that I don’t really need/ require most of the parts offered.

I have an original NOS pair of bare plates , cast ones like pictured above. I paid $500 for the pair
about 8 years ago.

I bought a pair on EBay UK two years ago for about £120, just the plates no hardware. I bought a generic rear brake pedal, made the alloy brake bracket and bought folding footpegs from RGM - I reversed the gear lever after bending it out a bit. I agree that they are not very elegant looking, but I was building a Dunstall replica so needed the plates for the correct look.

Looks like a custom jobbie with a shorter outer would be the ultimate fix (after exhaust mounting, though)??

I don't kinda like the brake cable entry into the rear support
I also has Madass rear sets fitted and a venhill 13 1/4 brake cable ...the cable fits perfect into the rear support
I also carried out the washer mod under the rear z plate mounting bolts to give a greater clearance for the cable

I bet that these two cables are very similar in length. Bought if from a Norton supplier. When I install my exhaust and the mounting bracket I’ll snake it through. It will look much better.

Thanks for pointing that out. I had forgotten about how it looks, but I haven’t worked on this bike for a few months.
