Hi,

I'm wishing to purchase a set of Dominator/Atlas exhaust headers and mufflers/silencers. I'm after the 'small bore' headers (1-3/8" with 1-5/8" flare for mufflers/silencers) and correct style mufflers. This project has been a long time in the saving:) so your advice will be gratefully received if it prevents me from making an expensive, regrettable purchase.
I have seen some very poor remakes of this type of exhaust, some of which came from Armours -so I'm not keen on them.

Is see that Feked in the UK do both the headers and mufflers (https://www.feked.com/norton-exhaust-pi ... 62-on.html & https://www.feked.com/norton-exhaust-si ... 62-on.html).
Andover appears to only supply the mufflers (https://andover-norton.co.uk/en/shop-details/18610 & https://andover-norton.co.uk/en/shop-details/18611)
Has anyone purchased these items recently and if so, what is your opinion of them? Also does anyone know who produces these items?

Any recommendations on the best supplier of these exhausts?

Thanks

Give us a clue - what year is your bike, and is it Atlas or Dominator ??

I'm currently looking for exhausts/mufflers for an earlier dominator,
and seem to have a choice of various not really correct stuff,
I know your concern...

Doesn't Viking in NZ do some really quality stuff.
Do they do what you want. ?

Bike is a 1965 Norton Dominator 650SS, therefore I believe that post 1962 style is correct. Ideally wanting the small bore headers, not the large Atlas type.
I haven't had any experience with the earlier Dominators, so cannot offer any advise on your setup.

I have never used Viking Exhaust, but everyone I've spoken to speaks very highly of them. They do not appear to make pre-Commando exhausts.

There is a fabricator in AU called "StayinTune" or something similar that custom makes headers. It might be worth looking them up.

If you have an old header Paul could probably copy it? Or he could fit to the bike if you are close enough to trailer it. Worth a call anyway.

That is Staintune, and unfortunately they list nothing for Norton.

They don't really do anything in 'classic' versions, its all stainless modernity.
I've got their pipes on my Guzzi, nothing like the originals.
Nice fit, lovely sound, good looks, no italian instant rust ...

Introducing Viking to this may be a good move, if you could get your bike to them for a fit up.

I have just got a reply from Viking saying they don't do anything for Nortons pre-commando
Cheers

I have a set of the Feked pipes on my 1962 650ss. The fit is quite good & the finish seems good but I have not done many miles on the bike. I purchased them about five years ago after two sets of pipes from Armours didn't fit. The silencers were from Armours & are very nicely made. Unlike some they have no ugly seam along the bottom.

Thanks very much for all your feedback so far, especially Matchless. Good to hear feedback from someone who has used these items previously.

For what it is worth, I have a set of head pipes that fit a 62/63 Atlas. These are the smaller diameter than the later years. They are not in perfect shape, but usable. They person giving them to me said they are repairable. chrome is good not rusty. Too bad i live 180 degrees out of phase from you.
