I see he has sold a few, must be bying them somewhere?maybe OS so figured someone on here would know the history. Putting bike back together as we speak ( check out my laterst post) and hopefully get some pics real soon

Interesting that that particular bike has a front number plate mount - these haven't been required for 25 years or more now. Might be an honest, unmolested original . . . . . . .

A few years back a Chap from Aus bought my 73, 750 with a bad motor.
He as traveling through the US buying stuff up.

I noticed the number plate holder as well, is it a requirement in the USA or England ?

Number plate on the front fender is not a US requirement.

In my state (Florida), however, they've passed a few laws in the last legislative session aimed directly at motorcycles.

License plates must be placed horizontally, in plain view from behind the bike, at least 24 inches above the ground, and illuminated. - Choppers are exempt from this law.

If one wheel leaves the ground in a demonstration of power, minimum $100 fine.

Traveling in excess of 50 miles over the limit is now a $1000 fine for the first offense, $2500 for a second, and license sanctions. This applies to all vehicles.

Staying off thread for a mo, if we get caught over 40 kph (25 mph) over a posted limit its 28 days instant loss of license (as in you get to walk home), plus a visit to court during those 28 days. :(

There was a big row in the legislature last year, as the statute was originally written to apply only to motorcycles, and was specifically meant to target sportbikes. It was pointed out that a two-ton car traveling at 100 mph carried a lot more energy than a 600 lb motorcycle and rider, and hence presented a greater danger to other motorists, and the law was rewritten.

The law about two wheels on the ground at all times is specifically targeted at 'stunters', especially those kids that extreme stunts on the main highways, in traffic!!!
