All these years of owning commandos, all the rebuilds etc and I wasn't aware that the commando motor uses the Desaxe principle. I'd assumed the head had been moved slightly forward not the cylinders moved to the rear by 0.093".
See Roadholder RH53 1973 page 9.
Is this why commando motors are ba****d to turn over and give oodles of torque?

Don't Know, but interestingly when the pistons are at top dead center -the crank is not.!.
