What is the actual stock 750 piston deck height above a stock set of cylinders & cases with no base or head gasket?
I no longer have stock parts to make this measurement.

I only know 750 Combat's. Sans base plate, stock pistons at TDC stand 0.050" proud
of the cylinder surface. Ken Canaga mills 750 heads for 920 pistons to stick up into. Might ping him direct in case he misses your inquiry here.

Hi there, if Hobot's pistons are std (which should be in a "normal" combat!) so the deck height of his Combat is the answer...as the only difference is between heads, one milled and the std not.
hi Jim, your pistons /rods are still in my shed , waiting , my 750 head to be modified before being fitted onto the maney 750 cylinders.....then , I will offer me for Christmas your "BSA" camfollowers and cam , which one do you advise for a close ratio four speed tranny??? Pierre

Thanks Steve .050" sounds about right but if anyone else has a measurment - chime in.

Pierre
I recommend the 1st stage cam for hot street/cafe bikes.

Two true '72 Combat factory standard in every component engines, no base plate, both pairs of, 10:1 CR, round oil hole and comma oil hole pistons, all stood .050" proud of cylinder at TDC, give or take a 0.000X", mostly from piston top cleanings,
Nice accuracy of a Norton product, in this particular aspect of 750 engines.

Alas, all un-indexed 750 cylinders' top decks, are milled with a slope for total of 0.003" difference. Low towards the rear, IIRC but check for sure on all of yours.
