Just think, if you spent your time in the garage with a few wrenches and a cutting torch rather than posting constantly like a teen on facebook you could build a Norton out of block of aluminum and some steel tubing

The TOURQUE and Rideability of a 1007 should outwit most riceburners in hill country , except phycos .
seeing the big jap sh*ts on the old pacific highway gets the lust for the catapult acceleration cranked over
of a worked 750 COMMANDO . Most are point & squirt and thwarted / buzzing indeterminately in the
sweeping bends . The Olde Dunlops well over got the rubber area up , or is that over & sticking .
Quite an astounding traction when you can slam on the anchors .

maybe theyre nervous of the gendarme and the 60 K restriction on the old 110 / open road HIGHWAY .
Of course if it was safge for a EH on crossplys , 60 kph for a modern shitbox seems reasonable .

NO decisive ' OVER ' into the turns , or ' UP ' at the exits for max W.F.O. ,
and any bigger than the 600 riceburners a bit of a handfull in half of it , so
is reduced to trepidation banked over and gas it on the straights .
Were a decent Nortons on the Gas when the Roads Clear Ahead .

Not the size of the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog .
the throttleability / tourgue / rideability of a ' tooned ' ( in all
respects - as in Dialed In ) Pommy Twin ( not a Matchless or
other more mundane types ) Commando is still less buzzy than
a whinga 650 and doesnt need a step ladder like a TRX / Thewper tenare .
or power steering .

There is a prize for the most hobot like post in the forum (hobot excluded from competing).
You just won it Matt. Prize on the way.
Go wait by the mail box.

Japo riders will cringe like they were winked at by Tony Abbott.

That's hot. I guess you can lap NZ in three minutes (I did it in 4 on the Commando, and that was The South Island) on that baby.
Better buy one before Jenny gets her hands my $20,000 and hots up her FJ.
Bit embarrassing as it is now, being beaten home from the pub on the MkIII by your girlfriend in her 60 year old car.

That's not such a stretch for ya Phil. You trashed that nice Fast back stuff by sticking a MKIII under it, what you call a "real" Commando. At least I'm honest about what I have. Ya butcher!

I didn't put it under there,
God did.
He said nice top, shame about the legs.
But it's got no legs now. Takes 30 minutes to go 10 miles, between gas stops.
I guess in NZ, a tourist would go that far, seen it all and come home.

Super Charged Dog. NA Cat.

We'll need to change that to BLUE then .

Matt
Time phoned me and said get that BRG bullshit off your signature.
Reckons he's won the competition already.
I had a look in his shed.
Nothing but rusty piles of metal with stickers on them. Norton, Sunbeam etc.
No sign of any cylinders.

Baxter's are happy - but I can't understand why!!
I sure can!!

If someone phoned me and said I've got $25,000 in my hand, wanting a MkIII restored,
do I send cash now or when finished? I'd be pretty interested.
I already have a Baxter MkIII pete. Extremely happy with it, told Baxter's this and sent photos.
I paid cash $US15500 electronically into Randy's bank account. Had never even been near the bike.

Fact is, Randy is not comfortable with engine hot ups.
That's cool. They are top restorers in my books.

I'm sending $US15500 to you too.
If your not happy with my customer practises, send it back.
And go back to bed you silly old coot.

[Nubquote="Fast Eddie"]Why not just get Baxters to build you a rolling chassis... Get the chassis shipped to Lord Comstock... Beg him to build you a killer motor and throw it into the chassis... then shipped to you?!?

Simple!
I have a feeling Phil may have burned his bridge.
Dealer beware!

Oh... !

Message to Phil: Its a small world in this game mate... limited number of bridges etc... burn cautiously... ![/quote]

I own Baxter's!
What are you talking about eddie?

pete.v has cast aspersions on my integrity as a good customer.
I'd like him to explain to the forum just what he means by these comments and on what basis does he draw this conclusion.

Over to you pete.

Baxters, after spending weeks in discussion about performance improvements, in the early hours of this morning sent me an email advising they were not comfortable with doing any engine performance mods at all, due reliability concerns. Stock standard or forget using us. Reliability is my concern, not theirs and Jim Comstock doesn't suggest anything that is not sound. I've got a lot of time for Jim, he's been more than helpful, freely offering his knowledge and advice. I was shocked but quickly moved on the matter. Sent back an email advising I was taking the project out of their hands. I guess Randy has too much work to care. I'm not interested in his business practices. You just move on.

Phil

Wow Phil, thats a big move !!!!.... CBF'd reading the in's n out's, but from my understanding you have a "core bike" at Baxter's that you dont want them to work on anymore? . And quote! " I'm not interested in his business practices. You just move on." And If my understanding is correct you will need some ........... Good luck.

I dont like to see people losing/wasting money from impulsive decisions but i do "feel for you" if what i've said is near correct.... If i have the wrong end of the stick, so be it..

I must say that this is the longest thread yet on a Norton that wasn't bought...........

You have the wrong end of the stick Chris. I didn't give the core bike to Baxter's. That would be difficult from Austalia. I advised Baxter's that I was interested in another restored MkIII, being so impressed with the one I had already bought from them. Baxter's advised they had a core bike coming in so I put my name on it. Plans for the project began.

I have a very good relationship with Baxter's, have done so from initial purchase of my red MkIII back around November last year. Haven't wasted/lost any money and move on to complete my intended plan, but using my MkIII as the project machine. It was never an impulsive decision.

I would like to hear from the person making the afore mentioned comments as the inference in my opinion is serious. Under these circumstances a PM would be more appropriate and I would expect an apology.

Well yes it is, but the head was bought Fullauto. And Jim will fit the valves etc. And can I say that Chris at BJ's is a real good bloke, very helpful. Thanks for your work developing the head. I'll report back on its performance.

We all have no doubt that you will.

The Fullauto is the best head ever made for a Commando Mark. With a changed cam and increased compression, I can't easily single out specifically the improvements achieved by the head alone. But I can report on overall performance improvement.

You might be tempted to go out and buy one yourself.
Then you can report too.

Well maybe quite a few, a lot of fast jap bike riders where I live are crap and a good Commando/Trident/Bonnie pilot can seriously embarrass them.

What's an R1?
Is it a motorcycle?
I'm amazed how many folk in here want to come out and bat for a Japo Crapo.
Now I understand the need for an alias.

This is a perfect example, Phil. You just learned of the existence of a Fullauto head a few weeks ago and now you are the expert and imply firsthand experience.

So if you come across an RH10 head out in the Ozark paddocks. Please let me know.
If anyone is still reading this, there are two 850 heads made in Australia sitting in a Brisbane bike shop, $2675 each.
The man said they were designed for maximum performance. But the man didn't know what an RH10 or RH4 head was.
Didn't seem to want to know either. So I have no idea what they are or intended to be. I've never heard of an Australian made Norton 850 head.

Has anyone else?

You consistently make false statements about anybody who may comment simply to get a rise.
You drop names as if they were your life long mates.

You have this fancy new toy to show off for all the envy, you hope. You remind me of Eric Cartman, obstinate, stubborn and blind to reality.

Your hypothetical crap serves no one but your incredible ego.

Let's be clear, my comments concerning you are what I think and what i feel and are based totally on your content and is my opinion of it. I know nothing except for what I "think" and "feel". I think and feel I’ve got your number.

You "seem" to be the kind of person who cannot help but stick their crap out when and where ever possible, a BS artist to say the least. I am sure I am neither the first nor the last to call you on it.
But as mentioned earlier, I feel you are oblivious.
So in this regard we will say that this response/explanation is for the rest of the membership.

In conclusion and in so many words i have mentioned this before, IMHO, I think and feel that you have a damaging effect on the respectability and integrity of Access Norton. Money donated to Jerry for the refund of your VIP membership would be money well spent.

Sure, I could push the magic button, like I do with JimC :D, but you would still be there wouldn't you.

I thought for a moment this morning that the gods wacked you. but here you are.

If and when you are gone, there will be this sick dysfunctional void for a week or so, but this too shall pass.

I suspect this thread too will soon to be locked and deleted.

If you find any misspelled word, feel free to eat them.

You asked for it.

Disclaimer,
There are some who would like to see me go away too. Everybody will rub somebody the wrong way at some point.
