Davida has folded?

Communications are sporadic & difficult but someone named Sue from Davida has just offered me a replacement leather liner & padding kit for my helmet in post #17 above - 25GBP plus shipping.
Not bad - have already paid.
I asked via email if they had changed the phone number - no reply (...or answered phone calls!)
Still, small mercies and all that...
Cheers

finally did it.... ordered a new Speedster helmet on Friday morning and it was delivered Saturday lunchtime.

The helmet plus optional leather lining added up to £260. Swapping the linings is easy, they are held in with pop studs.

It is the same (nominal) size as my old Davida Jet helmet but maybe a little looser across my ears.

It weighs 1220g with the leather lining, the same as the old Jet helmet.

The paint finish looks good, I bought the silver with a black stripe style.

The helmet has the ECE R22 06 certification.

I just bought a Gari 02 classic open face from Motardinn, it is nice in ivory white, fits great, sizing good, and seems to have ear clearance. Made in Italy, Garabaldi, not sure if I spelt that correctly 🙂.

Thanks for that!
Don't currently need a helmet, but their GARI 03X with retractable hidden visor and no press-studs, looks the goods to me. Reasonably priced too!
Cheers

Less than $200AUD from here:

It’s great they’re still trading, but it’s sad that they’re a shadow of their former selves.

A huge part of their USP used to be the vast range and options, no one else offered anything like it. It’s now down to a very, very limited choice, very similar to many other manufacturers.

I would imagine that offering a wide range of options and sizes could be part of the problem for a manufacturer. There could be lot of money tied up in stock, and maybe slow sales of some sizes / colours.

Would potential customers be prepared to wait for a helmet to be made to order if they wanted a specific colour or pattern / graphic? I would be OK with it if the lead time was a couple of weeks, but would want some guarantee that an order wouldn't take months to fulfill.

What's wrong with months - I've been known to wait 44 months for Jim Comstock to save me on a project :D Fortunately I have so many projects to finish that it didn't hurt - just put it aside and worked on something else.

Yes, I know it's different - just trying to be funny.
