What is the good order of tightening ?
This ? (classic bike)
Cylinder head

Or this ? (french thechnique book)
Cylinder head

Thanks

I'd go French, everything I remember concerning torquing heads started in the middle and worked out to the edges.
However I could very well be wrong in the case.

The lower illustration is more correct. You MUST start in the middle and work your way out.

This is the sequence in the shop manual.

It is like that I always made on my 3 commandos.

But by seeing the image of classicbike and that of the NOC GB I asked myself questions.

Thanks you very much.

Just go by the bible, I mean workshop manual and you can't go wrong.

Except where it spits blasphemy of 80 ft lbs, then refer the Prophet LAB.

And where does it say that on head bolts, my manuals don't and I have 2 different manuals, unless your talking about the clutch nut but mine says 70 ft lbs for that nut, but hey maybe at the time they through it was right.

Yes Ashley it is what I'm doing for decades, but I admit that having seen these drawings on classicbike and the NOC GB I had a doubt.

Thank you for your answer.

I had a rough time keeping track of this and made myself a cheat sheet. Whether it applies to other heads, I cannot say.
Maybe it will help someone else.
(Sorry I can not figure out why the image rotated sideways, or how to turn it back.)
