CV??

I really have problem to pull my 2 Amals with my screwed arm so I am thinking of a CV single carb ( I have a few Mikuni adapters ). What is the general opinion of this eBay :

It seems you have two problems, Philippe. First you have a problem with your arm which makes it difficult to work on your Amals, and second, you would like light throttle pull. I would assume that you would not like to give up superior performance for the sake of ease of use. PWK's might be a good choice, if they could be coupled with duel throttle cables.

Maybe a worth a call to JS Sports.

Just a thought. Best of luck, keep riding. I'll be looking for you on the roads in the Bay Area.

This is hooked up to JS's carb but it didn't make it lighter. There is more resistance in the 1 to 2 splitter and the way they have to "Y" out.

The straight shot from the dual throttle almost eliminate any potential drag associated with the splitters. I may opt for a lighter spring now.

I have a big fat grip on it that came with the throttle which helps, but frankly I don't have a problem with the slide snapping back anymore.

CV??

I think the best option would be a drive by wire setup. Electric motors pulling the carb cables and a rheostat on the throttle controlling it. Almost no resistance felt at the handgrip. Then you could use any carb.

Great, but a stepper motor for precise repeatability. Looks like Hobot's going to have some real competition now.

If a single carb spring is too tough then a Commando may be too ancient a bike than you are safe to operate. The battery bikes are throttled w/o spring pressure. A couple of times my neck spine injury got me so bad on rides I had to let go of throttle going up hill, ugh. Anyway I'd try to adapt a cave man simple lever or even foot throttle if off the shelf stuff don't fit ya.

Just received this carb, it is stock for 400 single Suzuki (DR/LTZ) and from what I remember from my DR400 time should be equipped with a stage 1 Dynojet... I will couple this with a Sudco manifold for 36mm (it is a 36mm too). Can't do anything right now: my Commando is, kind of, rejecting the Alton ES as it is made for chain and I have a belt...

CV??

Only one throttle cable and I should be able to install a choke cable!

CV??

Why not stay with a single Amal 932?
I've done this and I'm really happy with this setup.

BTW what's a CV?

CV = Constant Velocity

I think the best solution is to have Jim whip up a FI kit for you. Then the only thing you are activating is the butterfly, like a CV but way cooler!

I picked up a set of quad flat slide CVK 36mm, so I have two pairs, like this...

CV??

Jean fabricated some really cool manifolds for me (for one pair), now I just need to graft out about 1" of length off the velocity stacks.

I'm pretty sure the CVKs won't make a bike slow, if they can be tuned correctly for the application.

Otherwise, it's all in fun.

Nice pairs!!! off a GSXR? What type of jets do you have?
I am looking at Dynojet kit 1 or 2 but cannot see the sizes on line.. stock its 130 /60 / 22.5 which is already too lean on the Suz...so I am afraid for the Commando (specially if I look at the VM36mm jets).

I haven't got the foggiest clue on jetting. I've not yet had them on a running bike. The photo i posted is as far as my mock-up ever got.

It just happens that I am coming out with a single 34mm flatslide kit. It will be on my jsmotorsport web page in a few days. Price will be very reasonable. The photo below shows an earlier 32mm carb kit that I offered for a short time before the 34mm carbs became available. The photo will be updated when it goes on the web page.

I also have a 34mm flatslide twin carb kit for hot rodders.

Instead of looking at different carbs what you may want to explore is other methods to reduce the load on the stock carb cable. Two ways I can think of this would be a lever or cam mechanism. The throttle cable would lift or turn the lever or cam. I believe the Trident and Rocket 3 may have had an arraignment.
