I am not sure where he found the link. But, that it the link he purchased the unit from.

Does it say fits Norton Commando's in the listing?

No

i think i understand this part then, you were responding to what the customer said,

i thought you were confirming here that the part was purchased from the norton section

The customer purchased something in the "Norton list" because the title said "Norton".

As per our email, he did not read or review the listing because the title simply stated "Norton" (purchasing with neglect and to read)

So with that being said, if you purchase something that says "Norton" and it does not fit... perhaps you should read the entire listing as there are Commando's, Atlas, etc. We have a LONG description for customers to read and know what they are purchasing.

i do not see
https://www.classicbritishspares.co...box-drive-15-12-bg5330-168-60-0637-a75-rocket

in the norton section or does it say anything about norton,

perhaps you could have responded differently tho, sounds like the customer may have made a simple ordering error that might have been easily sorted

I cannot confirm if the part was under the Norton section

BUT

if it where, it is the customers responsibility to read the listing to ensure he is getting the correct part and not rely on a section or the word "Norton".

We have descriptions for a reason just like the other 5,000+ parts on the site.

coulda just said that part is not in the norton section, this is the correct part,

a customer can end up making a simple mistake (copy pasting a link?) on ordering, or even navigating a site,

your conclusion was
(purchasing with neglect and to read)

The customer said it was in the Norton section and you state that is not the case....

Now the conversation has turned to if a part was in the correct location or not.

It's very simple, just read the listing. We spend time on descriptions for that reason.

Because it's not a Norton part therefore its not under the Norton parts section...

So was the part he purchased under the Norton section? Probably not because it's not a Norton part. Which is why it does not fit...

Deleted due to a misunderstanding.

The conversation is getting twisted.

2 links about 2 different parts.

If the customer does not want the part he is more then welcome to send it back. As to all orders, if you are not happy please send it back for a FULL refund.

From what I can see, the link he purchased the unit from was NOT in the Norton section or state it fits a Norton.

The second link that was sent via email was the unit he needed, that unit was not purchased and that unit is in the Norton section.

I will check all my listings, IF there is a problem with my site or listing it will be fixed.

To my customer, send it back for a refund or exchange. I will pay for the return shipping to me and back to you if you would like us to fix the problem.

Thank you

When in a hole, quit digging.

NORTON WHEEL section, page 2
https://www.classicbritishspares.com/collections/norton-wheel?page=2

"Smiths Type Rear Speedo Drive Gearbox (1) - BG5330/287 - 3TA / 5TA / T100 - 2:1 Ratio"

At the bottom...
"Also fits various Norton Dominator & ES2 models."
Would be clearer if listed as such in the Norton wheel section.

2:1 ratio would be no good for a Commando.

ya, saw that 2:1 somewhere & didn't make sense

Correct for Dominator etc. though.
Only saying that if a "287" had been bought in error then the ratio would be wrong for a Commando.

I've dealt with CBS numerous times, as well as every other vendor out there. Never had a problem with service or received incorrect part. Recently I ordered #19 pilot jets for my Premiers. A week went by and I still didn't have them. I notified them and a new pair were sent, no charge, and received in 4 days. 10 days later I got the original order. Thanks to USPS. Know your bike, and know your part #'s. Measure twice, cut once. I usually measure a few times. No problems. Remember 30 years ago when you had to call the vendor because you happened to see him in some magazine? Part # ? Yeah Right. As far as this forum goes, there is more knowledge here to help you make an educated decision for what ever it is you need/want to do, before you do it. Just read or ask. Happy Motoring!
