I think I screwed the pooch by tightening the crankshaft studs to 35 ft-lbs. Can't find where I read it but isn't the number given in the factory manual wrong? The Clinton manual says 25 ft-lbs which is still pretty tight for a 5/16 bolt. Reckon I'll be getting another set of fasteners. What's the right torque? The oil pump stud torque is recommended is also too high, correct? 10 ft-lb for it?

According to my 'cheat sheet' - a download of all the torque settings from OldBritts - crankshaft stud nuts should be 30 ft lb - 12 nuts

Oil pump stud nuts (no washers, 2 nuts) 10-12 ft lb.

My Commando factory workshop manual says 25ft/lb for crankshaft nuts. The NOC Commando Service Notes says don't over tighten or under tighten.
