crankshaft oil seal

A fully rubberised seal where the OD has a rubber surface, internally there will still be a steel core for strength. But still use some type of sealant on the OD, going back in after 200 miles to refix is a bummer.

Could anyone who has used a speedi sleeve on a Mk3 please let me (us?) know the correct size required?

I have engine oil finding its way into the primary despite several crank oil seal repolacements.

1.179-1.184

If installing in-situ the sleeve must be reversed.

Source for rubber seals (US)?

Anybody have a suggestion for the ultimate sealer to use here? Bearing retainer? Cyanoacrylate? Monkey snot?

The one place that mine is NOT leaking from is the seal-to-crankshaft interface, so I'm not considering a sleeve.

I found the inner primary gasket soaked with oil too, which says the 3 bolts were leaking.

Roger that, brother.

From this guy in Denmark, looks like he has a couple more bags available on fleabay:
Thanks but I want them now. We're fast approaching warm riding weather and I'm Jonesin' to ride the old ho.
McMaster Carr is an amazing vendor on the East Coast of the US. I'll have them tomorrow.

After stripping the primary I sprayed it down with some brake cleaner and blow dried with compressed air. Blowing air into the chaincase to crank case joint created this mess...

Oil from the soaked gasket oozed out.
I truly don't want to be in here again.

Yes, McM is great on the West Coast too!!!
What's the part number?

I have used J B weld on these seals for years with NO issues on removal. if you want a rubber seal i have some PM me and i can send you one.

Thanks, if what I have coming doesn't fit I'll take you up on that.

Bought a bag full of these rubberized seals back when I had the same issue. With the new build I used a speedi sleeve, plus shimmed the crank float and installed studs in the case to replace the through bolts. Perhaps a result of all three measures combined, but my primary's been dry as a bone ever since (knock on wood)

Where di you get them? What part number. I bought a similar item from Steve Maney when he was still operating. It won't last forever....

This leak is from sitting and wet sumping for 5 months. I had no leaks during the last riding season. Breather works fine.

Which breather?

Starting a bike with a sump full of oil puts a lot of pressure on the seal. Without a good outlet (breather off the timing side won't do it) you can have issues.
