Thanks for the replies! I spoke to Phil Radford and he suggested .007 float. I will see as I go forward.

Wow, .007 inch is tighter than I would ever go.
I use .010 as a minimum on a stock streetbike and .020 as minimum on a race engine. Jim

Sorry for the hijack but...
I have just measured the endplay on the 750's crank and it came out at .020" I have in my stash 3x .003 shims (smaller) for the inner race side of the crank (fitting super blends) I have the bearings fitted to the cases, but I also had an old set of SB inner races I have relieved so as to be able to slide them on and off the crank. I used these in conjunction with the new SB outer bearings to measure the end float without causing any wear to the crank surface.
Q1... Should I shim the crank with it at .020 ?
Q2 ...If so, is it safe to shim only on the crank on the timing side ?
Q3...If not, Should I wait another week till I can get some shim stock to shim the case side of the bearings ?
I have rebuilt several Commando engines in the past and never shimmed the crank. But now I'm spooked. lol
Cheers JUG

Comnoz has already stated he aims for a MIN .010 for a stock road motor and a MIn .020 for a race motor. As he gave min (not max) figures, it would seem that .020 for a road motor would be fine.

Thanks guys, I had read comnoz's and all the other posts but just wanted some reassurance. lol
