Hi.
Workshop manual says that is permissible an end float from 0.005 to 0.015 inch.
Permissible means that you need an end play between that measures or also you cannot have it?
Thanks
Piero

Only bother if its over 0.025 inch on a Norton Twin, the crank is whippy and needs some clearance on the sides at higher revs. On a BSA B44 single with a narrow crank I fit them with 0.003 inch of endfloat.

Between, although what @kommando and others have said, up to 0.025in is better than 0.005in. Too tight and you may break things.

Piero, you do need some end play. I use an old bearing inner bearing race with the centre relieved a little so it slides on and off easily, then it is easy to fit or remove shims from the crankshaft without repeatedly heating and pulling on the inner race, which could damage things.

I did the same. Use the old bearings for that.
