I finally picked up my new twin crankcase today. It took me 12 hours to get them home. Started 7 AM from Stockholm and arrived on the doorstep of Neville Higgins in Angered nearby Gothenburg 5 1/2 hours later. Spent 2 interesting hours with Neville in his garage and home diving into Vincentipedia. For example examining the Vincent engine drawings he created during his time working as an engine engineer for Volvo cars in Gothenburg. These drawings are used today by e.g. Andy Molnar and are VOC property. He also showed me a copy of the original Vincent drawings he got in his possession back in the late seventies. The crankcase I bought from Neville is one of the castings made by Matt Holder end of the seventies. I'm a happy guy today!

Hi that's great now the work begins,it took nearly two years to get mine from date of order .
What is your plan for the cases.

The crankcase has been machined my a Scandinavian Vincent Club member using Nevilles drawings/blue prints. The camplate spindle is slightly modified as Neville thinks the standard one has a tendency to jiggle and eventually the thread is worn out.

I purchased these parts more than a year ago from Terry Prince in Australia. First the idea was to put them in my Black Shadow engine but I later decided to instead keep it standard and build another one. The bore is 92mm and stroke 100mm so it's 1330cc. Squish heads and pistons giving compression ratio 10.4. MK5 cams with radius followers. Bob weight crank and shorter than standard rods so there is no need to have a spacer under the cylinder.

It took me the best part of 8 years to complete my Norvin. But it sure worth it!

What is your plan with this engine, standard Vin or special?

Eric.

Hello Eric,
Yes it will for sure take some time to gather all the parts needed as the financing is key !
Initially I just planned to convert my Black Shadow to 1200cc but after discovering Worntons very very nice Egli Vincent interpretation (Vincent 1360) I more and more realized that keeping the BS stock was better and instead build a complete new bike. So the plan now is to do something similar as Wornton but with my own twist. A modernized Egli Vincent with some inspiration also from the new frame that Terry Prince and Fritz Egli Jr have made. At least the UFM. But you never know were it will end I suppose...

Those certainly are some beautiful bits and bobs.

Do you have any intention of doing any concept drawings? I'd love to see how your thinking process develops...

Well for now I only have some rough ideas. Will be focusing on getting my Black Shadow back on the roads for this summer. Once that's done I will in parallel gather parts for the 1330cc engine and come up with the frame concept.
I don't know yet if I will use a Vincent as a base or build a so called amateur vehicle (meaning build year 2016). My first option would be to find a non-complete Vincent basket case at a "reasonable price", e.g. a 500cc Comet. In Sweden you can change an existing vehicle to a certain extent and still keep the original build year. I will keep you posted!

I soon will have the Meteor frame and some other parts available. Once I have the Black Shadow back on the road I will focus a bit more in this bike. I have already bought the primary cover, clutch cover and timing cover.

My old picture links to Photobucket in this thread are cut. Photobucket have started to charge $399.99/year to allow 3rd party hosting. So no more Photobucket. Now I move over to Imgur.

Here all pictures once again:
