Crankcase numbers

Hi All,

I have started cleaning up my MK3 crankcases. There are some numbers on the inside of each case and I wondered if there is any meaning to them or if anyone knows:

They're just pattern makers or foundry marks I believe which probably have little or no meaning outside the foundry where the castings were made.

850 Mk3 drive side crankcase castings often have H?? (e.g H22) stamped at the front below the barrel flange, but I've no idea what it is supposed to signify.
