Well I'm sure there are a few on here who can recommend others but Leo Goff at Memphis Motorwerks does
all of my stuff . A little backed up right now . When I was in there a couple of days ago there were about 6
Norton engines in various states of repair .
Hobot's recommendation looks like a good one as they specifically mention vintage motors in their ad and do a lot of motercycles. If you don't want to ship it you could ask around at the local race tracks or hot rod clubs. The good ones have been around for a while and will have an established reputation although some of them may not want to do mc engines. Make sure you have your top end sorted first.
When I lived in northern, CA, I had a Norton crank reground. I went through Raber's. Not certain who did the actual machining. Very good results.
Without question, Leo Goff does excellent work. Whatever an unknown local machinist charges, you are better off to throw that money in the street and have Leo do it in the first place. That's been my experience, anyway.
I can also give props to the guys at Rabers. they've done 3 engines/ 2 cranks for me - allwere nice and ran smooth after assembly - in san jose calif - so may be close to you too
