This was discussed in a previous thread but I took the time to try and measure the Corbin Gunfighter seat compared to the stock Norton seat.

It was difficult because I am still in the process of healing from back surgery so I couldn't lift the bike off the side stand...measurements are not actual height when on the bike but show the difference.

The Corbin seat low point is a little different than that stock seat, but they are very close to the same. The Corbin might be 1/2" lower at most. I was surprised to see that because the Corbin seat looks lower visually. The corbin is about 1" to 1 1/2" lower at the sides as it curves down from the center.

Here is a really crappy picture of the measurements:

Those of us that suggested the Corbin seat is significantly lower were wrong (me included).

Curiosity got to me, so just sat on my '72 with the same stock seat you show. Off the stand and sitting on a wooden dowel, floor to the dowel is 30 inches. The stock seat will compres more then the closed cell foam of the Corbin. Comparing my measurement to your photo, looks like the Corbin might be an inch lower than stock. Leg wise if the Corbin is wider than stock, your ability to touch the ground might be the same or worse.

Yes but my picture is on the side stand...they are very close to the same. I couldn't lift the bike because I just had back surgery. The seat will be higher in upright position. Between the two there isn't much difference.

You could also run a straight edge from the lower tank edge to the rear loop and measure up from that.

There are a couple factors that a mere tape measure can't take into account.

1. The Corbin won't compress much.
2. The Corbin is contoured to fit your butt so you sit in the seat not on the seat.
3. You may find that the Corbin is more comfortable with rear sets. With rear sets you may also get your feet on the ground easier as you don't have to avoid the pegs at stops.
4. An inch of seat height make a lot of difference.
