I've been reading the older posts on Jim's (JSMotorsport) 0.003" headgaskets but looking at the posts it looks like they're showing the 750 barrel/heads.
The 850 has the larger bore that reduces the distance from the cylinder bore to the oil drain hole and I'm thinking that using say a 1/4" gasket ring and wire around the oil drain hole that the two would interfere with each other.
Would it be better to extend the ring gasket to around the drain hole - or perhaps use a piece of 0.003" foil to make a whole gasket and use wire around the pushrod tunnels and the drain hole ontop of this gasket as Jim suggests on a normal copper gasket?
I would of thought if I was to glue the foil sheet with Pliabond to the barrel face that the foil could easily be cut with a craft knife to fit whilst in place?

Jim’s method is to use the copper wire supplied in the kit around the oil hole and pushrod tube holes. Why not just do this?

Here's the way to do it on the large bore motors.

Looking at my 850 barrel it looks as though the wire around the drain hole would sit on both the cast iron and some of the copper gasket - would that matter?
