Control Switches Size, what's the Difference?

I have seen on Commandos that there are smaller, more trapezoidal shaped black plastic switches (with more pointed ends,) and larger, longer rounded end black plastic switches. I searched and did not find anything to know what years/models these were used on. I have a 1974 850 that was a basket case, and am finally making headway on a build, so I am wondering what I am hunting for, which type? (Next is the bad part) For my bike, both of the black plastic control switches were broken off, and I would like to get this back to original.
 
look up ebay seller bonnevilleshop they have both kinds and I think they even mention for which models
 
Also that's when they went to the red kill button color. The later buttons stick out a little farther too.
 
Yes I mean the 73-74 ones. I lost interest in keeping track of Norton changes when they came out with the MKIIIs. :)
