Conrod Rocking?

So after putting the 850 on the road for its first run of the year, i discovered it was smoking badly.
initial thoughts were possibly rings so today i tore it down.

so far its looking like the gudgeon pin circlip has come out, broken top ring on left piston. the bore was on std with nearly no ridge but will have now be over bored do to some deep scoring.

now it brings me to how much play i should expect to find in the bottom end? there doesn't appear to be up and down play but they definitely rock
aswell as having lateral movement.
i take it this is not normal and a sign of bigger issues?

No up and down is good, you expect to have some ability to lean over as there has to be some clearance in there, the lateral is the difference between the width of the shells and the width of the journal and also to be expected. If you need shells I have some sizes spare.
