Hi
I'v got my norton engine unseized and have pulled the head and barrel head off ,hoping to get away with a light honing to clean the cylinder wall up, and maybe oversized rings. I was checking the conrod and there seem to be a bit of play in them is this normal, and if so how much.

rockin

If you are referring to side play then there should be around 0.013 to 0.016 thou of play. If you mean vertical play then you should not be able to feel any.

Pleased to hear you've got the motor free.

Don't fit piston rings that are intended for a larger piston/bore. There shouldn't be any up and down movement in the conrods, they will however rock from side to side.
Best of luck,
Cash

As cash says, don't fit 'oversize' rings, as they are not meant to compensate for bore wear.

Try new standard rings first, if these are outside of the tolerance range then a re-bore is required, with new oversize pistons and rings.
