Why take risks : it a conrod fails , you will have to replace at least crankases, pistons, and 2 conrods.

If in doubt, throw it out. To my untrained eye it looks as if you have the makings for a lamp.

New ones are about 170 quid, used vary but quite often on ebay for reasonable sums.
Id not use it.

Crikey ; Its Stretched . Must be Hobots Rod from when the throttle stuck open & it sat on 9.000 rpm for half a minute .
Besides the weld looks incompatable & liable to fall out . Normally use a ' MATCHED SET ' ( pair ) of rods .

some of the ebay ' parted out things have sfa milage . Over 10.000 id be very cautious . Crack testing isnt a bad idea . Generally if all the sizeing is right ,
they may not have been missused .

Now is the time to buy JS motorsport rods and pistons.
I would use what you have there for a trophy "Bent piston or ConRod" Paint everything gold and put it on a walnut block.
I would not trust these to do anymore service within a Norton.

The only way that rod could be damaged like that is if was dropped in the shop or a piston let go 1st or was so froozen they busted the piston out to free the rod and then had to weld back the over shot. Norton rods are so strongly over built likely it'd run a long time if not reved too hi. But how long do ya live and how pensive do you want to spend your ride time wondering if ya saved a penny betting you don't loose lbs of engine parts. All bets are off in rod robust ness once its damaged and certainly with a fatigue stress riser so plainly visible and the possible themal distortions and area softening of in-complete melting and merging leaving more voids unseen lurking below the surface... to pop out to rattle like crazy and drive ya nuts as being chewed in a few miles till the oil pump can ingest and digest then quite down with maybe a slight horizontal imbalance that might only be detectable in some conditions during continued long rides sanely operated till in the mood to bite the bullet - for some other reason than a fully failed to point of show stopping Norton rod.

Matt I don't tease nor remind cosmos of his shop fire so please don't tease me on Ms Peel fateful end of an era heart break. 9 grand don't even touch >let alone bounce needle off peg stop to invisible, try it and see, if you can stand the horrific noise rather harsher than video of enclosed dyno runs of elite racers. Ms Peels rods survived fine so I spent most of 2 grand on her crank specially custom BF with these used tested rods. The Costworth pistons created too high a CR to work around and retain small chambers, then JMS kit came out and Trixie got em as big sister hand me downs. A handful of seconds around a lightened smaller flywheeled unloaded WOT Commando is worth a life time of ordinary engine limit testing.
